The Presentation of Draft National Transport Strategy
The Presentation of Draft National Transport Strategy and ITS Programme for Republic of Serbia for 2023–2030 with Action Plan took place on March 20th 2024, at Hotel M, Bulevar Oslobodjenja 56a, in Belgrade.
The opening remarks were delivered by the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Mr. Goran Vesić, who presented the current government activities, investments in transportation infrastructure, as well as plans for future development. The Minister emphasized the importance of adopting the National Transport Strategy and thanked all the participants involved in drafting the Strategy.
The presentation of the Strategy began with an overview of the Strategy Development Process and continued with the Proposed Strategy, consisting of 5 main pillars:
- traffic integration into the EU transport system and the TEN-T network
- improved domestic transport system
- improved transport sector management
- clean, safe, and sustainable transport development
- digitalization of the transport system
The implementation strategy of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), as the most significant segment of digitalization of transport, is specially highlighted and presented within the framework of the National Transport Strategy.
In the final part of the presentation, the expected results of the Strategy were discussed, including economic, social, and environmental benefits, challenges, and actions, as well as steps to be taken in the implementation of the Strategy.
Representatives of the Serbian ITS Association actively participate in the development of the Strategy. The Strategy has recognized the Serbian ITS Association as one of the significant contributors in the planning, implementation, and promotion of Intelligent Transport Systems in Serbia. It has been our pleasure to attend the presentation of the draft Strategy and to discuss all relevant topics with colleagues in this field. Members of the Association will continue to contribute to further elaboration of the Strategy until the final version is adopted and thereafter, in its implementation and promotion.
